Held on Sunday, Oct 27, the first ever Malaysia MINI Day event has charted a new record for a local car gathering. That’s because it successfully drew out more than 500 MINI cars and their owners in the Resorts World Awana Open Carpark, Genting Highlands.
The event was organised by a local MINI owners club called MINI Pattern Group, with the support of MINI Malaysia (BMW Group Malaysia) via authorised dealers Millennium Welt. Ahead of Sunday’s main gathering, organisers begun festivities early on Saturday, Oct 26 with a celebratory dinner commemorating the 10th anniversary of the MINI Pattern Group’s establishment.
Following which came the mega-gathering itself which, initially, saw 513 MINI cars registered. However, by the end of the event, organisers eventually counted a higher grand total of 543 MINI cars that attended. It now holds the crown for the largest ever gathering of MINI cars in Malaysia, thus proving that love and passion for the brand is well and truly alive amongst Malaysians.
Moreover, the gathering also featured contests where members competed across categories such as Best Modern MINI, Best Classic MINI and Best Rocker Cover. That aside, the gathering also saw enterprising members host a Car Boot Sale featuring a plethora of foods, memorabilia and crafts being traded, and it stood as a crowd favourite.
As part of its collaboration for this event, Millennium Welt showcased the MINI brand’s latest metal and organised special test-drive sessions too. Headlining things here were a trio of the brand’s newest all-new electric models – Cooper SE, Countryman SE, as well as the Aceman.
The event concluded with a celebratory atmosphere reflecting the camaraderie within the MINI community, marking a successful day for all attendees.
