Hyundai Staria, the seven-seater version got its debut back in 2021, and recently Malaysia has gotten a newer version, the Hyundai Staria 10-seater.
Designed as a people carrier and looking like it came from the future, the Korean maker’s MPV is now bigger and much more luxurious inside.
The brand’s official distributor, Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM), is offering the Staria 10-seater in three variants, Lite at MYR 179,888, Plus at MYR 196,888, and Max at MYR 209,888.
Each purchase is covered by a two-year/50,000 KM standard warranty. Opting for the extended warranty (MYR 10,000), upgrades it to a five-year/300,000 KM and three-year/50,000 KM free service plan.
Exterior colours e.g., Abyss Black Pearl and Creamy White for all variants, the Lite adds on Shimmering Silver Metallic, and the Max adds on Graphite Grey Metallic and Moonlight Blue Pearl.
The Staria 10-seater stands at 5,253 MM long, 1,997 MM wide, 1,990 MM tall, and with a wheelbase spanning 3,273 MM.
Luxury is the emphasis, and it comes with a futuristic design and unique styling. Adoption of the one curve gesture really makes the overall silhouette pop.
The front showcases a one-piece-like bumper that features a large rectangle-shaped, wide nett-like designed full-face grille.
Paired to the light strip positioned at the front top edge of the hood, and the square light housings located at the sides of the bumper, add a premium and futuristic finishing touch to the front fascia.
The back layout has a squarish curved profile with clean, smooth surfaces covering the boot, extending further its unique one-piece kind of silhouette.
Plus, fitted with the minimalist roof-edge spoiler, and paired with the Staria script at the centre of the tailgate makes it look very premium.
It gets a set of Tetris-style pixel headlamps, full LED units with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) for all variants.
At the back, the tail lamps match the front’s design with full LED units for the Plus and Max variants. The Lite features a pixel-patterned light cover and bulb units instead.
The side mirrors come with electronic adjustments (Lite, Plus, Max), and blind spot-indicators (Max).
A set of 17-Inch alloy rims, wrapped in factory standard Kumho PorTran KC53 215/65 R17 tyres for the Lite and Plus variants, and a set of 18-Inches in 235/55 R18 tyres for the Max.
The Staria 10-seater is built with a low beltline. Hence, the dashboard is accompanied by a very large front windshield, aside from the rest of the surrounding, also fairly large cabin windows.
It gets a driver- and passenger-oriented layout, simple and very straightforward. Modern and sleek, it comes in all-black with silver trimmings around the steering wheel and gear region.
Lite variant gets a 4.2-Inch LCD Supervision instrument cluster, while Plus and Max variants upgrade to a 10.25-Inch TFT LCD Info+ Rheostsat Supervision instrument cluster.
Seats of the 10-seater MPV are finished in black fabric (Lite), carbon semi-Nappa leather (Plus), and black Nappa leather (Max).
They are manual adjustable (Lite/Plus), and with driver side eight-way power adjustment and four-way lumbar support (Max).
All variants feature a 2-3-2-3 seat layout, 60:40 split-folding, sliding and reclining second row, two sliding and reclining third row captain chairs, 60:40 split-folding third row. All rows have a full flat folding configuration.
It offers very generous head, shoulder and legroom, thus all occupants get ample space. Overall, it is spacious and luxurious especially in the back, considering the big-scaled body design that it has.
Also, large glass areas provide airiness to the cabin, which height is ingress and egress convenient, and is sufficient for an average school-aged child to stand upright and move about inside with ease.
Equipped with numerous storage areas including large-sized door pockets, side door armrest pockets, a couple of compartmentalised areas and a cavern space in the centre console, and a decent-sized glove box.
There are 18 cup holders located all around the cabin.
All variants feature one 12-V power socket (centre console) and eight USB ports (two front row, two second row, one third row, two fourth row), seven made for charging and one for other connectivity. The Max variant adds on a wireless charging pad (centre console).
Its powered tailgate (Max) opens up to a boot space of 1,024-Litres with the seats folded flat. The space is big enough that when all the seats are folded, a bed for camping can be fitted in.
The Staria 10-seater features the Hyundai SmartSense safety suite. All variants get Rear Occupant Alert (ROA), and Parking Distance Warning (PDW), the Plus adds on a Surround View Monitor (SVM), while the Max adds on Blind-spot Collision Assist (BCA), Rear Cross Traffic Collision Assist (RCCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go (SCC w/S&G), Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA), Safe Exit Assist (SEA), High Beam Assist (HBA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), and Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LVDA).
All variants get six airbags (driver, front passenger, side), 10 three-point seat belts (anchors, reminders, pre-tensioners), three ISOFIX points (second row), parking sensors (front, rear), 360-degree camera, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Traction Control System (TCS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with auto-hold function, security alarm, and immobiliser.
Four drive modes available via the Drive Mode Select (DMS) function. E.g., Smart, Normal, Eco, and Sport.
Each variant is equipped with an eight-Inch touchscreen infotainment system, supporting MP3 playback, AUX-in, USB, Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and voice recognition.
The Lite gets a standard four-speaker setup, while the Plus and Max upgrade it to a four-speaker plus two-tweeter setup.
The Staria 10-seater is fitted with a 2.2-Litre CRDi turbo diesel engine, producing 175 HP/177 PS at 3,800 RPM and 431 NM of torque at 1,500 to 2,500 RPM.
It churns using an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Power is sent to the front wheels (2WD).
It is fitted with a 75-litre fuel tank.
All variants of the Staria 10-seater have smart keyless entry with push to start button, tilt and telescopic steering functions, multifunction steering wheel, inside rear-view mirror with Electric Chromic Mirror (ECM), power window for driver and passenger side (auto up and down with anti-pinch), front and rear parking sensors, auto headlights and wiper functions.
The Max adds on remote control operation for remote start function, boot and doors auto open/close, smart walk-in entry system, smart sliding doors with one-touch button, driver seat eight-way power adjustment and four-way lumbar support, wireless charging system equipped with temperature sensor and cooling function, dual-zone full-auto air-conditioning system with front and rear passenger controller, and a 360-degree parking camera.
Rear air-conditioning systems for all variants, with separate controls for Max variant.
The seats are uber comfortable and the ride is smooth. Especially over long journeys with the amount of cabin space it offers along with the seating configurations and placements.
It has good sound insulation with the NVH factors accounted for. Plenty of vibration control and soundproofing materials fitted, blocking most of the exterior noises sufficiently.
The Hyundai Staria 10-seater is built to stand out from the crowd. It is one of the company’s many latest offerings that embodies what the future of vehicle designing would look like, as it portrays something none of its competitors can offer with its futuristic yet luxurious styling.
Quality of the luxury-MPV’s equipment and materials installed inside and outside, really impresses with the upscale, modern design and minimalist detailing. It has a well-designed cabin with plenty of amenities, functions and of course, the space.
Overall, it offers a very smooth and comfortable drive with an adequate performance, alongside a design outlook that is a head turner on the road, and not to mention the safety suit of systems it comes with.
